Carol Sue Burt Obituary

Carol Sue Burt, 81, of Dublin, Ohio (formerly of Battle Creek), passed away on Saturday, November 19,

2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Carol was born on November 12, 1941 in Hutchinson, Kansas

the daughter of Richard and Bonnie Wells. She graduated with a BA from Anderson University in

Elementary Education and a MA from Western Michigan University. She began her career as a substitute

teacher with Pennfield schools and then got her dream job teaching at Prairieview Elementary in Battle

Creek. Carol married Carlton Burt on August 14, 1965 in Hutchinson, Kansas.


She is survived by her daughters: Carla (Bryan) Brown, Louisville, Kentucky and Renee Spiegel, Dublin,

Ohio; Grandchildren: Austin (Sarah) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Stephan (Tara) of Louisville, Kentucky,

Chloe of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Elijah and Claudia of Dublin, Ohio; Great-Grandchildren: Reese,

Nolan, Evan and Cali of Louisville, Kentucky and Mora of Indianapolis, Indiana; Brothers: Gary (Teresa)

Wells of Florida and Richard (Carol) of Texas; and Sister, Jan (Rudy) of California.


Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Bonnie Wells and her husband, Carlton.

Carol was a member of North Avenue Church of God prior to moving to Dublin, Ohio in 2007. She sang

in the church choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of various boards. Carol will forever be

remembered for her beautiful contagious smile. She never knew a stranger and welcomed people into

her home hosting many gatherings over the years. In addition to spending time with her grandchildren,

Carol enjoyed Pilates and walking.


Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 29th where the family

will be present from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 11:30

am at North Avenue Church of God with Pastor James L. Sparks officiating. Burial will be held at Fort

Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to North Avenue Church
