John Joseph Ellis Obituary

John 'Jack' Joseph Ellis, 89, Neenah, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Desert Blossom Care Facility in Mesa, AZ. He was born on March 25, 1926, in Kingsford/Iron Mountain, MI. Jack attended Kingsford High School where he graduated in 1944. He enlisted in the US Navy and went to USNTC in Great Lakes, IL, and served on the USS LCI(L)48. Jack served his country from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946, he then attended a Milwaukee area technical school to become a machinist. Jack was united in marriage to Ann Melelli on July 22, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Church in Iron Mountain, MI. He worked at Marathon Corp., which later became American Can Co., until his retirement in 1990. Jack was a charter member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars #10893. In his free time Jack enjoyed dancing with his beloved Ann, wood carving, wine making, gardening, listening to music, watching sports especially the Green Bay Packers. He was one of the original Packer shareholders, and attended the Ice Bowl. Jack also enjoyed traveling and for the last 25 years he spent winters at Val Vista Village in Mesa, AZ. Jack is survived by his daughter Mary Ann Ellis and awesomely by a granddaughter, Tianna Marie Ellis. He is further survived by sisters: Darlene Hanson and Marcie (Paul) DeBruin; brother, Robert Haddock, daughter-in-law, JoAnn Chadwick Ellis and many nieces, nephews, and all of his friends at Val Vista Village in Mesa, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ann, son Joseph, brother-in-law, Roy Hanson and sister-in-law, Lorraine Haddock Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, April, 19, 2016, at Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S Commercial St., Neenah, with Steve Pable officiating. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. Visitation will be held Tuesday, at Kessler Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Immediately following the service, full military honors will be presented by active duty members of the US Navy and the Neenah-Menasha Veterans Honor Team.
