Horace Darbonne
<p>BASILE~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Horace Darbonne announces his passing on Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Southwind Nursing Home in Crowley at the age of 69. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Keenan Brown, Celebrant. </p><p> Horace was a 1971 graduate of Basile High School, as well as a graduate of McNeese where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in Education and also his Masters +30. While at McNeese he met the love of his life, Cindy Manuel. He taught in Basile, Crowley, and at LSUE, and enjoyed traveling, always had a joke to tell and could make anyone smile and laugh. He loved spending time with his children, granddaughters, family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him including his wife of forty-five years, Cindy Darbonne of Basile; children, Jacques Darbonne of Basile and Katie D. Maggio and husband, Beau of Oberlin; granddaughters, Baylor and Blair Maggio of Oberlin; father-in-law, Joseph “J.E.” Manuel of Eunice; brother-in-law, Kirk Manuel of Moss Bluff; as well as extended family and friends. </p><p> He is preceded in death by his parents, Shelton and Sis Fontenot Darbonne; sister, Jeannette Darbonne Gotreaux; and mother-in-law, Olga Manuel. </p><p> At the request of the family, visitation will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile on Wednesday, November 23rd from 9:00 am until time of services.
