Kathy Jean Davis Obituary

Kathy Jean Davis, 69, of Peru, formerly of Battle Ground, passed away early in the morning on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

She was born on June 29, 1953 in Danville, IL, the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Richardson) McMasters.

On Valentine’s Day in 1986, she was married to Lawrence Davis. He preceded her in death on January 2, 2011.

Kathy graduated from Danville High School in 1971. After high school, she worked various office jobs, including Danville Sanitary District, Beeline Transit, and several physicians’ offices.

Outside of work, she enjoyed listening to country music, loved cats, and was fiercely proud of her grandchildren. She stayed involved in all of her children and grandchildren’s lives and was always willing to share stories about their latest life changes and achievements. Kathy also loved to shop and, whether it be a candle, a figurine, or a piece of jewelry, she could never pass up a deal at her beloved Goodwill store.

Surviving are her 5 sons Charlie (Michelle) Shutes of Peru, Tom (Rita) Shutes of Rossville, Robert (Shawn) Davis of Catlin, IL, John Davis of Fairmount, IL, and Josh (Gina) Davis of Tilton, IL; 14 grandchildren Annalicia, Brady, Cierra, Courtney, Kaleb, Blaise, Olivia, Maggie, Sebastian, Morgan, Clayton, Mackenzie, Tristan, and Kaitlyn; 4 great-grandchildren Clover, Obsidiana, Ronin, and Nash; a niece Deana (Tye) Auter; and a nephew Don (Nicole) McMasters.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Ronald McMasters, and a grand-daughter, Audrey Shutes.

Kathy’s unexpected passing has left a hole in our hearts and families. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Fisher Funeral Chapel, Lafayette. A service celebrating Kathy's life will follow at 1 p.m.
