Marilyn McCants Martin, 90, widow of Dr. Donald Eugene Martin, passed away peacefully November 20, 2022, at her home with her children at her bedside.


Marilyn was born in Williamsburg County on September 18, 1932, a daughter of the late Wilburn D. McCants and Jewel Swails McCants

.

Marilyn grew up in Andrews and graduated from Winyah High School. She was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church; she served on the Bereavement Committee, sang for many years in the church choir, and was a member of the G.E. Hinson Sunday School Class. Her church was a great part of her life. Marilyn was very dedicated in the preparing of food for all receptions at the church. She was a talented home decorator which her home is proof of with its warm and charming atmosphere. Marilyn was a very devoted mother and grandmother and surely will be missed by her family and friends.


In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn is predeceased by: a son, Louis E. “Ed” Martin.


Surviving are: a son Bruce D. Martin (Jackie) of Andrews; a daughter, Leah Martin Mauritz (Bill) of Simpsonville; a sister, Mary Jo Troublefield and a daughter-in-law, Judy Martin both of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Dennis Martin (Amy) of Summerville, Austin Mauritz (Bethany) of Rock Hill, Jacob Mauritz of Simpsonville, Neal Martin, Chad Martin and Sabrina Johnson all of Georgetown; and six Great-grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be two o’clock Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Andrews First Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Mark Stump. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.


The family will receive friends Monday evening, November 21, 2022, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home from six until eight o’clock.
