Michael Albert Wallace Obituary

Michael Albert Wallace, 74, of Battle Creek, passed away at his home with his family by his side on Friday, November 18, 2022. He was born July 20, 1948 in Battle Creek, MI the son of Richard Wayne and Agnes Anna (Kohlhoff) Wallace. Mike graduated from Hastings High School, class of 1967. He continued his education and graduated with degrees from KCC, MSU, and his Master’s Degree from Cornell University.


He married Elaine Barber on January 12, 1974. Mike volunteered in the Peace-Corps from 1975-1978. He retired from the New York Department of Agriculture after 23 years of service. Mike enjoyed genealogy, wood-working, gardening, traveling, and hunting. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mike was a devout member of Redemption Lutheran Church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.


He is survived by his wife, Elaine; daughters: Mariya Wallace, Kirstin (Jason) York, and Bethany (Jeffrey) Curtis; grandchildren: Lia, Nathaniel, and Micah; sister, Karen (Howard) Tussing; and nieces and a nephew.


He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Wallace.


A time of fellowship will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Redemption Lutheran Church with a memorial service to immediately follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Karl N. Strenge officiating. Burial will be at the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford Township, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to Lutheran World Relief.
