Evelyn Jean Setzer
<p>Evelyn Jean Setzer, 91, of Newton, NC, passed away, Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Abernethy Laurels.</p><p><br></p><p>Born March 9, 1931 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Homer Ray Setzer and Mary Alberta Davidson Setzer.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Shook; brother, Donald Ray Setzer; and a son-in-law, Joe Holland.</p><p><br></p><p>Evelyn was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She loved traveling and attending camp meetings at Balls Creek Campground. As a legal secretary, she was very proud of her work in the law office. Evelyn took great pride in all she did. A lifelong musician, Evelyn played piano and organ for several churches in Hickory, NC. A creative person and accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing, gardening, and making all types of crafts. She was a devoted grandmother who loved her grandchildren dearly.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Setzer Hutchinson ( John) of Rockingham, NC and Billie Jean Setzer Holland of Claremont, NC; grandchildren, Andy Holland of Charleston, SC, John Patrick Hutchinson, Jr., Alexander Grant Hutchinson, and Evelyn Rose Hutchinson, all of Rockingham, NC; great-grandson, Lane Holland of Charleston, SC; sister, Mille Rose Settlemyre ( Joe) of Claremont, NC; brothers, Larry Neil Setzer( Carolyn) and Randy Allen Setzer, both of Conover, NC.</p><p><br></p><p>A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev.
