James Freeman Rose

<p>James Freeman Rose, 67, passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. James, also known as "GG," was born March 22, 1955, in Mobile, Alabama, where he lived his entire life. He attended Little Flower Catholic School and graduated from McGill Institute in 1974, where he served as Senior Class President. He attended the University of South Alabama before transferring to Troy State University where he graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing. In 1981, he married the love of his life, Pamela Horn, and began his career. James successfully achieved the prescribed requirements in education, personal development, and professional responsibility, as established by the National Association of Purchasing Management, and was awarded the designation of Certified Purchasing Manager. James was employed by Union Carbide/UOP and retired after 25 years of service. He then worked as a procurement specialist at Honeywell, Thyssenkrupp Steel, Evonik, and Hargrove Associates (Olin).</p><p>James loved nothing more than being with family. He and Pam spent much of their time at Dauphin Island, boating and enjoying the beach. James also loved entertaining and playing the perfect host to guest often lucky enough to be treated to his culinary skills. He was a member of the Crewe of Columbus for Many years, and always looked forward to parading.</p><p>James had a great personality, was warm and genuine, and always full of life. He was an avid reader, who never met a stranger. He could talk to anyone about any topic at any time.</p><p>James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pamela Horn Rose; daughter Lauren Rose Huckabee (TD); son James "Nick" Rose (Jordan); grandchildren James Huckabee and Rose Huckabee; sister Carolyn Bergeron (Roger) and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Leona Rose; father Joseph Rose, Jr.; and his brother Joseph Rose, III. Honorary pallbearers and special friends include Benny Busbee, David Scott, Gary Smallwood, Ben Johnston, Bruce Winfield, Greg Winfield, and Mark Horn.</p><p>A celebration of life will be held at Ascension Funeral Home, 1016 Hillcrest Road, Mobile, AL 36695 on Saturday, November 19, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. The service will begin at 3:30 P.M.</p>
