Ola Mae (Dixie) Blair passed away on Monday, November 7th from complications of old age. She would have turned 96 on January 9th of 2023. She was being cared for in Cincinnati, OH where her only daughter, Bonnie, resides.

She was a mountain girl and raised five children of her own. As an example of her southern wit, she called the Covid “pandemic” a “damn panic”.

Dixie resided the majority of her life in Rochester Hills, MI. She then became a snowbird and spent summers in Jefferson, NC and winters in Palm Bay, FL with her husband J. Thomas Blair, who passed away in April 1995. She recently resided for 11 years in Elon, NC.

Dixie is survived by Martin (Michele) Blair, Bonita (David) Sirk, Thomas A. Blair, and Gary (Leslie) Blair. Her fourth son Steven (Diana) Blair passed away in 2019. She was grandmother to ten and great-grandmother to eight.

A family memorial service at Boone Family Funeral Home in West Jefferson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022, followed by internment in the Jefferson City Cemetery, where she will rest next to her mother, father, and sister Bille Rudd.
