Josephine Quinones Obituary

Josephine Quinones, age 95, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022. Josie was in her own bed, in no pain, her daughter Christine by her side, while some of her church friends prayed over her. She peacefully stopped breathing. We could not have wished for a better transition for her.

Josie was born at Holy Family Hospital on Dean Street, a mile away from her final home on Adams Street. She loved this community, and loved living independently in Brooklyn. Josie was a force of nature and had a tremendous sense of humor. She loved knitting, crossword puzzles, and socializing with old and new friends. She took great joy in sitting in the sun in front of her building and greeting her many friends and acquaintances. Josie will be missed by all who she came in contact with.

She is survived by four children, Christine Quiñones (Avram Grumer), Joanne Quiñones Reed (Jim Reed), Enid Ricardo (Ric) Quiñones (Wendy Quiñones), and Alona Rosa Brown; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Enid Ricardo Quiñones Sr., and daughter Susan Quiñones.

Should you wish to donate to a charity in her memory, she supported the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.

We would love to hear your remembrances. Family will be in my mother's apartment (225 Adams Street, Apartment 3D, Brooklyn 11201) on the afternoons of Wednesday, November 9, to Sunday, November 13, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM (except for the times of the wake and the funeral) if anyone wants to visit to express condolences in person.
