Elizabeth Schlachter

Elizabeth Loretta (Macdonald) Schlachter, 85, of Groveland Florida, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday afternoon, November 2nd, surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded by her spouse Richard J Schlachter, parents, Robert and Loretta Macdonald, 2 sisters, and 1 brother.

She is survived by her son, William (Sue) Schlachter, daughters, Annette (Dennis) Parkhurst, Barbara (Robert) Pierson, Deborah (William) Ringer, Diane (Eric) Gotto, Dolores Gross, Tracy (Eric) Tormoen. She also had 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was born in Detroit, Michigan and her family moved to Ohio when she was a young girl. She married Richard Schlachter in August 1958. They raised their family in Ohio and then semi-retired to Florida in 1989 where she worked as a baker in Publix for many years. After she retired from Publix she loved making burp cloths, changing pads, and baby blankets for the local pregnancy center.

She had an incredible sense of humor! Her witty remarks always put a smile on anyone’s face that she was talking to (along with anyone else that was in earshot). She was a kind and compassionate person, who always loved, encouraged, and protected her family. She loved to read (over 500 books just in the past 6 years alone), she also enjoyed sewing, playing word games, along with watching baseball and football, Go Bucs!! She was treasured and loved by many and will be truly missed!
