<p>Retha Reddish Porter-Williams was born on January 11, 1939, to the late, Elzie and Anna Filmore-Reddish, Sr. in Odum, Ga. Retha was educated in the Wayne County Training School where she graduated in the Class of 1956. She later attended college thru Manpower Training Division, a Nursing Program thru Wayne Memorial Hospital and she received her LPN license. Her employment history consisted of working as a nurse at Savannah Machinery and Shipyard, Chandler Home Health in Savannah, Ga. and Memorial Medical Center, from which she retired after working over 30 years. She later worked for Dr. Moody in the movie theater, at his doctor’s office and in their home.</p><p><br></p><p>Prior to moving to Savannah, Ga., Retha was a member of Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church. At her passing, she was a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the church nurse, deaconess, and a strong financial supporter under the leadership of Rev. Lexie E. Akins in Savannah, Ga.</p><p><br></p><p>Retha passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by both parents, Elzie and Anna Reddish, Sr.; her husband, Abbott Williams; her brothers, Eddie Reddish, Elzie, Jr. and Willie Reddish; her nephews, Eddie “Peter” Reddish, Victor Reddish Mallory and Charles “Cho Cho” Mallory, Jr.</p><p><br></p><p>Those left to cherish her memories: Earl (Rosalyn) Porter, Clarkton, NC, Lee Edward Porter III, Clarkston, Ga., Lindsey E. Porter, Jesup, Ga. and Michelle K. Porter, Elizabethtown, NC; her grandchildren, Lindsey D. Rivers, Savannah, Ga., Jalen M. Porter, Jesup, Ga., Earl Porter, Jr., Clarkton, NC and Casey M. Porter of Clarkton, NC; her great grandchildren, Devion Archer, Nariah Porter and Ezekiel Porter; her sister, Erma Mallory, Richmond, Va.; her god daughter, Karen Williams, Pooler, Ga.; her close friends, Mary Murray and Vera Marchel, both of Savannah, Ga.; her special cousins, Caroline Millett and Jenell Pore, both of Jesup, Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.</p><p><br></p><p>A visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Royal Funeral Home Chapel, 247 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545 from 5-7 p.m.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 @ 3:00 p.m. at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, 401 W. Pine Street, Jesup, Ga. 31545.
