Shirley M. (Hammond) Grimes, age 96, of West Warwick, and formerly of Warwick, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 30, 2022. She was the wife of the late Paul K. Grimes.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William L. and Maude (Dexter) Hammond, she lived in Warwick before moving to West Warwick two years ago.

She is survived by five daughters, Paula A. Duffy, Nancy S. Deshaies, Betty J. Potenza, and Cheryl M. Kelly, all of Warwick, and Cathy M. Folco of West Warwick; a son, Paul M. Grimes of Warwick; a brother, Donald Hammond of North Smithfield; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was the sister of the late William Hammond, Roland Hammond, Adeline McLaughlin, Dorothy Cairns, Florence Miller, and Viola M. Paulin; and the grandmother of the late Robert S. Deshaies, Anthony M. Deshaies, and Laurie A. Beaumier.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, November 3, at 8 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, November 2, from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
