Allan Dolecheck Mount Ayr, Iowa Obituary

Allan Dolecheck

Allan Dolecheck was born on April 25, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Leland and Sandra (Wood) Dolecheck. He was a husband, father, and friend to many. Allan passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2022, at the age of 60.

Allan graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1980. He received many honors during high school, including being a member of the National Honor Society and President of the school’s FFA Club. Shortly after high school, he was awarded the Iowa Farmer Degree.

Allan frequented Triple F Feed Store. Once meeting the secretary, Naomi Padgitt, his visits became much more frequent. Allan and Naomi’s first date was picking popcorn and a farm tour. Allan and Naomi were married on February 29, 1992, at Kellerton United Methodist Church. As true farmers, they planned their wedding around calving season by selecting a wedding date that occurs only on Leap Year. From this union, two daughters, Sheryl and Erin, blessed their marriage.

Allan loved everything about farming, especially caring for his cattle and enjoying the accomplishment of a successful harvest. From a young age, Allan excelled at all things math and science and leveraged these skills to build a successful farming operation that grew in size over the years. He began farming in 1978 and was fortunate to do what he loved his whole life.

Allan was a friend to many. He loved helping where and when he could. It was evident that he cared deeply for his family, friends, and community.

His few moments of down time were often spent at G & I Feed & Grain in Mount Ayr. Many friends and games of pitch were enjoyed there. A winning hand was almost always accompanied by a can of Pepsi in the other.

Allan enjoyed sports cars and collecting them. He was known to crack an ornery grin and say “the accelerator is your friend”. Few were able to reach their destination faster than Allan, with the exception of his Grandma Ethel in her Chevy Caprice.

Allan is survived by his wife, Naomi; daughters Sheryl (Matt) Downing of Orient, IA, and Erin of Ames, IA; parents Leland & Sandra Dolecheck of Osceola, IA; brother David (Sherri) of Fort Dodge, IA, and sister Michelle (Troy) Good of Marion, IA, along with three grandchildren, Mikaela, Chasse and Chloe; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Ethel Dolecheck and Keith and Edith Wood, as well as other loved ones.

Memorials are for an Ag related scholarship at MACHS and the Ringgold County Fair.

Allan was fun to be around...he was a hard worker but he could also spend some time
relaxing with family...he had a great grin and chuckle and was full of knowledge.
He always made me feel welcome when i visited and i will miss him so much...until we meet again....
