Jane Marie Burtner passed away from this world on April 11, 2022 at the age of 95 under the care of Bloomsburg Healthcare. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her homemade pies were famous among the family and those who knew her best. She always went out of her way to make things nice for others. Her baking was a comfort to all. One of her favorite treats were Gardener’s Candies in Tyrone. Every holiday she would arrange to get an order of their wonderful chocolates. She once had a dream to open her own candy store! She was always a determined woman with goals and a love for the Lord and family.

Jane was born to Lois R. Houck Kustanbauder and George Wood Kustanbauder of Tyrone, Pennsylvania both of whom predeceased her. Her sisters Winifred Keller (Charles) and Anna Mae Blaska predeceased her as well.

She began her married life as Jane Dworsak when she married Richard Rudolph “Rudy” Dworsak. His unexpected death at the age of 38 left Jane widowed with three sons, Richard Rudolph Dworsak (deceased), George Quentin Dworsak (deceased), and Robert Ross Dworsak.

She married Rev. Roger Q. Burtner in 1961 and they enjoyed 55 years together. Rev. Roger raised the boys and then their daughter Christine Jane Burtner was born. They served in First United Methodist Churches across Central and Eastern Texas, and also in Pennsylvania.

She leaves behind her son, Robert Ross Dworsak (Melanie) of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, daughter Christine Jane Burtner Farmer (Cody) of Fredonia, Texas, grandchildren; Matthew Dworsak (Monica), Mallory Dworsak Bottesch (Hans), Jessie Caitlin Famer Weeks (Zach), and Brant Ray Farmer. She also leaves behind five great-grandhchildren: Bryce and Emmett Dworsak and Declan, Colin and Alec Bottesch.

Jane was a strong woman who was determined to never give up. She actually fought her way back from near-death situations on more than one occasion. Heaven has one more very strong angel!
