Lilian Mae Hill

<p>Lilian Mae Hill, 93, of Newbury, OH passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, October 26th, 2022 at UH-Geauga Medical Center. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 9th, 1929 to the late Dewey and Elsie (Keller) Hill. </p><p>She served our country during World War II by enlisting in the Civil Air Patrol. Lilian participated in homeland security exercises by routinely flying over Lake Erie searching for any possible invasions where she received many merits and awards. </p><p>Later, Lilian obtained her Master’s Degree in Education from Kent State University. she enjoyed working as a special education teacher until retirement. Following her retirement, Lilian became known as Colonel Saunders by being a liaison between the Red Cross and FEMA for disaster services. &nbsp; </p><p>Lilian will be deeply missed by: her loving children, David (Andrea) Saunders, Michael C. Saunders, Kathleen Saunders-Reinker; grandchildren, Amanda (Patrick) Yingling, Elizabeth (Tory) Evans, Jamie (Alan) Saunders, Morgan (Greg) Gotthardt, Michelle (Brandon) Groves, Bill Reinker, Justin Klasa, Nicole Klasa, Michelle (Frank) Zahler, Michael R. (Agnieszka Kaczor) Saunders; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard T. Hill; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. </p><p>She is preceded in death by: her parents; son, Thomas Saunders; brothers, Robert “Moe” Hill and William Hill; and sisters, Geraldine Goodenough, Dorothy Hill, and Jean Glavoseck. </p><p>A CELEBRATION OF LIFE WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE.&nbsp; </p>
