Marcene Kelton Garrett Obituary

Marcene “Perk” Kelton Garrett, Sr., was born February 10, 1949, to Floyd and Cecelia Garrett in Belton, Texas. He attended T. B. Harris High School and graduated from Belton High School in 1967. He also attended Temple Junior College and the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. He was joined in marriage to Phyllis Faulk and to this union three children were born. He was employed by Coca Cola right after high school, then was drafted into the United States Army on July 3, 1969. After his services in the armed forces, he worked for Texas Power and Light (TXU Energy) until his illness and retirement in 1992.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; six sisters, Wilma “Sister”, Gloria “Jean”, Etta Mae, Cecelia “Flutie”, Wanda “Chink”, and Shirley; six brothers, Bob Henry “Billy”, Floyd “Bubba”, Harvey “Butch”, Kenneth “Joe Boy”, Jackie and Don.

Survivors are Phyllis Garrett of Belton, Texas; one son, Marcene Garrett Jr. (Dorothy) of Temple, Texas; two daughters, Melissa Garrett of Austin, Texas, and Christine Baker (Tony) of Temple, Texas); three grandchildren, Brianna Baker, Larissa Garrett, and Marcene Garrett III; two brothers, Elmer “Dandy” Garrett (Barbara) of Los Angeles, California, and Larry Garrett (Karen) of Temple, Texas; and a host of relatives and friends.
