Sr. Aracelia Cruz Serrano, CDP

<p>At the age of 89, Sister Aracelia, formerly Sr. Mary Edgar, went to her eternal reward on Thursday, October 28, 2022. &nbsp;She was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on September 28, 1933, and baptized at the church of San Miguel. She entered the Sisters of Divine Providence in 1958 and professed Final Vows on August 27, 1966. Sr. Aracelia was an educator; both teacher and/or principal in schools in the Diocese of Arecibo, Puerto Rico. She also served as Regional Superior of the Community of Sisters for five years. Sr. Aracelia received her BA in Elementary Education from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elpidio Cruz and Ursula Serrano Cruz, a sister, Virginia Acevedo (Ram6n), and a brother, Israel. Sr. Aracelia is survived by her sister, Benilda Cruz Gonzalez (Angel), brother Edgar (Claribel), several nieces and nephews and the Sisters of Divine Providence and their Associates. Viewing will take place on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 3:00 — 8:00 p.m. with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2.&nbsp;Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. A livestream will be available at: https://video.ibm.com/channel/Q4zW6rUvwPq. All will take place in Visitation Chapel at Kearns Spirituality Center, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101. Burial will follow in Providence Heights &nbsp;Cemetery. All who are vaccinated are welcome to participate. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sisters of Divine Providence, 9000 Babcock Boulevard, Allison Park, PA 15101 or cdpsisters.org.
