Beatrice Mozelle Westover was born October 26, 1931 and went to be with the Great Spirit on October
17, 2022 peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Carthage, North Carolina but made her home in York,
Pa where she is survived by her daughter, Bethany and grandson Kenny. Bea was a Native American who
loved to play piano, sing, enjoyed arts and crafts, loved animals, and spent most of her adult life as a
homemaker. She was strong, independent, and persistent. She knew life was full of hard choices and she
was not afraid to make them.
Growing up, Mom was not perfect, but she let me be me. She never told me I couldn’t do something or
couldn’t try something. She let me have a skateboard, watch scary tv and always had cookies for me,
because southern women love with food. She taught me to be strong, resourceful, and independent like
her. She showed me what not to do. I am thankful for the strength she gave me.
In Bea’s final years she found comfort and safety at Promedica, where she was cared for and all her
needs met.
Bea will not be forgotten, and her ashes will be returned to North Carolina, the only place she really
called home.
