<p>God in His infinite wisdom, dispatched His angels to Leona Juanita Howard Bailey on October 17, 2022, at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary, Louisiana to reclaim His own. Leona heeded God’s call and transcended time to soar into eternity. &nbsp;She was born on September 25, 1949, a resident of Baker, Louisiana, and native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She was a graduate of Rosenwald High School Class of 1967. She furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master's in Education Administration and Supervision from Southern University. She retired as an educator from the East Baton Rouge Parish School system. She was a member of Baton Rouge Sigma Chapter – Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Survived by her loving and devoted son, George Bailey, III of Baker, LA; a granddaughter, Taylor Calvert, of Houston, TX; a loving and devoted companion, Leon Franklin, Sr., of Baker, LA; special family, but more like sisters, Malana D. Bessix, of Maringouin, LA, and Iva Gene Pate, of Maringouin, LA; special nephew, Walter Howard, Sr., of Baton Rouge, LA;&nbsp; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.&nbsp; Preceded into eternal life by her parents, Willy Howard, Sr. and Leona Noel Howard; sisters, Louise H. Goudeau, Dorothy H. Ladet, Audrey H. Taylor, Shirley H. Thomas, and Gloria H. Brown; two brothers;&nbsp; Willie Russell and Willie Howard, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1565 Curtis Street, Baton Rouge, LA from 9:00 a.m. until religious services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Father Thomas Clark, SJ, officiating. Entombment at Heavenly Gates Mausoleum, 10633 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70807.&nbsp; Professional services entrusted to A. Hamilton Platinum Funeral Service. </p><p>&nbsp; </p>
