David Laster Wilson, Sr. Obituary

David Laster Wilson, Sr. age 76, passed away on October 20, 2022 following a lengthy battle with Lewy

Body Dementia. 


He was born February 27, 1946 to Donald and Nelle Cobb Wilson and lived most of his

life in Duluth, and was a graduate of Milton High School.


David is survived by his wife, Jane L. Wilson; sons David L. Wilson Jr. and Thomas A. Wilson; sister Sandra

Wilson Chadwick and her husband Larry; sister-in-law June Wilson Christensen and eight grandchildren,

Tyler, Andy, Alex, Lela, Elizabeth, Shelby, Sarah Jane, and Charlie Oscar, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Don (Skipper) Wilson.


While serving in the United States Army at Ft. Benning as a Military Police Officer, David was a personal

escort for John Wayne during the making of the movie The Green Berets. David earned a B.S. from

Georgia State University. He worked as a sales representative for Crunden Martin Company, and then

worked 30 years with Siemens Westinghouse, starting in the warehouse and working his way to general

manager of operations.


In his retirement years, David enjoyed spending time on Lake Lanier, woodworking, gardening, doing

home renovations and any and all things cars and trucks. He and Jane also enjoyed traveling and

exploring new places. David was the ideal of a southern gentleman, kind, generous, and lived his life

based on exemplary Christian values. He was a lifelong member of Duluth United Methodist Church.


Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at Bill Head Funeral Home in Duluth at

10:30am, followed by a Memorial Service at 12 noon.
