James Powers Wilkinson Obituary

James Powers Wilkinson passed away quietly on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, surrounded by family at his home after battling illness for 3 years. He was 71. Mr. Wilkinson was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He served in the US Navy from June 1970 to May 1974, during which time his ship was off the coast of Vietnam. He joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in 1974 for one year until being hired by Upper Merion Township Police Department, retiring in 1985 at the rank of sergeant. Jim served on the board of supervisors in Upper Merion Township. Upon retiring from the UMPD, Jim and his business partner started Advanced Driving Training Services, Inc., from which he semi-retired in 1999. Along with his wife, Marion, they then moved to the US Virgin Islands until 2017. Jim enjoyed fishing, woodworking, classic cars and scuba diving in his younger years.


Born in Norristown, PA on July 6, 1951, he was a son of the late William T. and Eleanor (Early) Wilkinson. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 51 years, Marion (Burke) Wilkinson; daughter, Brandi Wilkinson Jordan and her husband, Daniel Jordan; son, James Wilkinson Jr. and his wife, Cherise Wilkinson; five grandchildren: Courteney and Sydney Wilkinson, and Aidan, Gabriel and Shaelyn Jordan. He was preceded in death by brother, William G. Wilkinson; and sister, Martha “Marty” Wilkinson.


The family will receive relatives and friends at the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport, PA on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 10 to 11:30 am; with Military Honors at 11:30 am.
