June Pommier

<p>June Pommier, age 87 years of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan died on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Shaunavon Hospital &amp; Care Centre.</p><p><br></p><p>She was born at Shaunavon on June 7, 1935 and grew up in the Garden Head district. She received her elementary school education at Stone Pile School. Following an injury her father received in a farming accident the family moved to Shaunavon where June completed her education and graduated from Shaunavon High School. She worked at the Shaunee Restaurant after school and later for Mrs. Rushford’s drycleaning business. June had met Lawrence Pommier at a housewarming party at the Smith farm and later asked him to be her escort at her High School Graduation. They were married at Christ the King R. C. Church on November 4, 1954 and moved to the Pommier farm. June adapted very well to the farm life. She loved animals, especially horses. Her favorite horse was Prince who she had ridden to school. She always had a big garden on the farm and was a gifted homemaker. She was a very talented seamstress and sewed clothes for the children. She was very involved in raising chickens, geese and turkeys as well as helping Lawrence with raising the hogs and cattle. She enjoyed a variety of crafts. In 1980 they moved into Shaunavon and June became very involved doing volunteer work. She was a member of the CWL and for several years was in charge of the rummage sale. She was an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary and delivered meals on wheels. She enjoyed visiting shut ins for coffee and a visit. June continued gardening and enjoying her yard in town. June liked watching Rider football games with Lawrence and they curled together. She liked music and dancing. June was very religious and devoted to her church. She was a voracious reader. She enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Cypress Hills Park. They travelled to many places including Hawaii, Florida, Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, New Orleans, Montana, North Dakota and California.</p><p><br></p><p>June was predeceased by her parents Florian and Rose Bauer.</p><p><br></p><p>She is survived by her husband Lawrence; son Terrance (Sylvia) of Medicine Hat, granddaughter Delee Kyle and great grandchildren Makayla, Jayden and Layne, grandson Michael Pommier and great grandchildren McKenna and Talon, and granddaughter Carla Pommier (Darren) and great grandchildren Dax and Ella; son Larry (Joanne) of Lethbridge; daughter Karen Pommier of Shaunavon, grandson Jody Pommier (Kelly) and great granddaughter Rainy; son Randy (Diana) of Shaunavon and grandson Justin; and son Steven (Michelle) of Cranbrook, B.C., granddaughter Rebecca Boender (Cam), great grandchildren Brielle and Adalyn and granddaughter Emily Popoff (David) and great grandchildren Henry and Dorothy.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Services will be held from Christ the King R. C. Church in Shaunavon on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Father Melchor Samonté officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s R. C. Cemetery at Shaunavon. Prayer Services will be held on Friday, October 28th at 7:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church. Pallbearers were Jody Pommier, Justin Pommier, Delee Kyle, Carla Pommier, Michael Pommier, Emily Popoff and Rebecca Boender.
