With family by her side, Winifred passed peacefully on Monday 17, 2022 at Grandview lodge; just 2 months shy of her 102nd Birthday.

Back in the loving arms of her husband John Gallant (1986), and her children Henry John Gallant (2015) and Linda Howie (2014). Winifred is the beloved mother in-law of Johnanne Gallant. Loving grandmother to Jason (Gyung-ah) Howie and John (Brandi) Howie. Cherished great grandmother of Sarah and Andrew Howie. This is the article that was in the Grandview Lodge newsletter:

"Winifred Anne (Winnie) was born on December 20, 1920 in Bootle, Liverpool, England to Anne (1972) and Harry (unknown). She grew up with two younger siblings Betty (2013) and Harry (1940) as well as a half-sister Margaret, who was born when Winnie was 16. Winnie was always generous, helping family and friends whenever they needed it.

During WWII, Winnie worked at a bomb factory. She married John Gallant in 1942. He was an able seaman for the Canadian Navy, then the British Navy from 1940 - 1945. They had a son Henry John, born in 1943 and two years later sailed to Canada where they lived in Tignish, PEI, Halifax, NS then finally in Hamilton, Ontario. John opened his own roofing and eavestroughing business and Winnie served as his receptionist and bookkeeper. their daughter, Linda was born in 1947 in Halifax. The family prospered in Canada and made frequent trips to England, the US and Canada to visit family. She was very happy when her grandsons were born in 1972 and 1976 and spent a lot of time with them as they were growing up.

Later in life Winnie travelled to many places around the world, including South Korea where her grandson and family lived. She moved in with her son and his wife in Dunnville, in 2011 and stayed with them until she moved into Grandview in 2014."

A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Grandview Lodge for the care, compassion and love Winifred received during her years in their care. They became Winifred's extended family.

A private family interment will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at The Resurrection Cemetery in Ancaster. In memory of Winifred, donations to the Grandview Lodge would be appreciated by the family.
