Micheal Anthony Smith, 73, known to his Douglas High Alum as Hicks, passed away October 11, 2022. He is survived by his soulmate, Candy Shears-Smith; his son, Micheal Brandon Smith; his sister, Diane Hopkins; his grandchildren, Mi’Kel Smith, Heaven Smith, Camren Black and Carsen Black; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him.

Micheal was fanatical when it came to the Memphis Tigers! When he started having knee trouble and couldn’t attend games, he bought a big screen tv so he would always have front row seats!

Micheal loved kids. He’d get down on the floor with them, play games with them, and enticed them to watch scary movies. They loved him so much.

Micheal worked for over twenty years at the Defense Depot of Memphis after which he was a long-distance trucker for several years.

Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 18th, at New Hope Christian Church in Bartlett; visitation begins at 3:00 with the celebration following at 4:00.

Memorials to honor Micheal may be made to New Hope Kids (c/o New Hope Christian Church), Big Brothers/Big Sisters, or The Memphis Humane Society.
