He was a dairy farmer in Michigan and a realtor in Colorado. With his first wife, Shirley he had 4 children: Brian, Kathryn, Barry and Kristen; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He later married Josie Brinks with 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. They were married for over forty years.
