Margaret Johnson 93, of Murphysboro, Illinois passed away October 6, 2022, at Manor Court in Carbondale, Illinois.

Margaret was born March 22, 1929, in Murphysboro, Illinois to Walter Scott Johnson and Helen Vesta (Walker) Johnson.

She was a former member of the First Pentecostal Church of Murphysboro. Margaret retired from Ferrell Gas where she worked for many years.

Margaret loved traveling, but her greatest love was spending time with family and taking care of her great-nieces Alyssa and Lauren Johnson who lived next door.

Survivors include one brother Edwin Scott Johnson of Murphysboro, IL. Other survivors include nieces Jeannette (Al) Frank of Topeka, KS; Donna Kay (David) Tulo of Cerritos, CA; Ruth Ann (Bud) Holt of Cerritos, CA; Helen Marie Martin of Long Beach, CA; Shari (Jeff) Verseman of Highlands Ranch, CO and nephews Wayne (Barbara) Robinson of Palm Harbor, FL; and Scott (Cindy) Johnson of Murphysboro, IL; great-nieces Alyssa (Robbie) Kupferer of Murphysboro, IL; Lauren (Chad) Chapman of Carterville, IL; Debbie (Cedric) Rhoads of Aliso Viejo, CA; great-nephews Tim (Michelle) Holt of La Crescenta, CA; Jeff (Rachelle) Frank of St. Joseph, MO; David (Kim) Tulo, Jr. of San Clemente, CA; and Tony (Kelly) Martin of San Juan Capistrano, CA; and many great-great nieces and great-great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter Scott and Helen Johnson, and two sisters, Betty Ferguson, and Helen Robinson, and one brother James Johnson.

Visitation will be Monday, October 10, 2022, at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro, Illinois from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Easton will be officiating with interment at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or any charity the donor wishes.
