On Friday, September 30, 2022, Larry Garnaat, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at home. Larry was born on June 26, 1944, in Kalamazoo Michigan to parents Viola May (Oorbeck) and John Henry Garnaat. He was the oldest of 6 sons, Wayne (Sharon), Ken (Cathy), Michael (Veronica), John (Joy) and Carl (Sachiko).

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Carol Garnaat, sons Daniel Larry Garnaat, David John (Shannon) Garnaat, stepchildren Kimberly (Jeff) Mohr; grandchildren Isaac David Garnaat, Jereme (Lindsay), Michael (Jennifer) and Casey Mohr; and many nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by parents, Viola and John Garnaat; and stepson, Bernd T. Ratfisch.

He graduated from Portage High school in 1962 and after attending business college in California worked as a computer data manager. Larry loved NASCAR racing, his workshop, and cooking, especially using his smoker. He also loved his dachshund weiner dogs (ARF!)

A Funeral Mass celebrating Larry’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 6, 2022 at All Saints Parish, Saint James church 710 Columbus Ave, Bay City, Michigan. Fr. Jose Cabrera will celebrate. Friends and family may gather Thursday for visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Those planning on an expression of sympathy may donate to Larry’s church, St. Boniface Catholic Church.
