During that time, she would meet the love of her life William “Bill” Wall Jr. After marriage, Emma would take her next assignment in the Vocational Exchange Program in Canada. Emma and Bill would start their family while in Canada, with the birth of their first daughter. At the end of her two-year program in Canada they relocated back to Independence, Missouri. They spent the next ten years in Independence where Emma took nursing courses so her nursing degree would be recognized in the States, as well as growing their family from three to five. In 1977, Emma and her family moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and she began nursing at a newly opened Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital where she was the fifth employee hired. Emma would work for over twenty years at the hospital before retiring in 1997. During her career at the hospital Emma was pivotal in many different departments as it expanded.
