Nicholas Gamarello Obituary

Nicholas Gamarello,100, of Jersey City died peacefully on Saturday, 1/14/17. He was born in Hoboken and lived in Jersey City most of his life. Nicholas served his country in the US Army Air Force during WWII as a Staff Sergeant; he was assigned to the 13th Air Force 72nd Bomber Squadron, the 5th Bomber Group in the Pacific Theater. He flew in a B24 Heavy Bomber as an Assistant Crew Chief and was also a Ball Turret Gunner. Nicholas flew 76 missions including many record setting long distance raids. He was awarded many citations including the Air Medal, Presidential Medal, and the Pacific Air Medal. Nicholas worked for the Hills Bros. Coffee Company for 30 years working his way up through the company starting as a stock boy and retiring as a night shift supervisor in 1977. He was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve (nee Grajewski). Surviving are his children, Paul, Daniel Gamarello and Mary Manikow; his grandchildren, Kevin, Brian and Thomas Gamarello, David Manikow and Christine Norris; 3 step-grandchildren, Michael, Thomas and Daniel Kaplan; his 12 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Emily, Brooke, Abigail, Alexander, AnnRose, LucasThomas, SadieLynn, Kaya, Cooper, Piper, and Carter; nis nephews, Paul, Martin, and Nick Gamarello, Anthony and Eddie Raffoni.
