Paul Cochran, 73, of Creston, died Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Clearview Home in Mt. Ayr, Iowa. 

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the Iowa Veteran Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa. 

Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate the service. THE FAMILY REQUESTS CASUAL DRESS (BLUE JEANS) AT PAUL'S SERVICE.

Full military honors will be conducted by Coast Guard Reservist and the Theodore J. Marten’s Creston VFW, Post #1797.

Paul Byron Cochran, son of Harold Byron Cochran and Pearl Evelyn (Riepe) Cochran, was born on December 28, 1948, in Creston. He was educated in the Creston Community Schools and graduated in 1967. Following graduation, Paul enlisted with the United States Coast Guard. He served his country for four years until his honorable discharge in 1971.

On February 22, 1976, Paul was united in marriage to Cynthia Ann Bradley at the Creston United Methodist Church. This union was blessed with two children. In 1978, Paul started his business of Paul’s Electric Service. After 41 years, Paul retired from working as an electrician in 2014. Aside from his time spent in the military, Paul was a life-long resident of Creston.

Paul was a member of the American Legion in Creston and in the earlier years, he was a soccer coach and Boy Scout leader.

Surviving Paul are his wife Cynthia; two children, Shantrey Cochran of Creston and Shaylon Cochran of Kenai, Alaska; three sisters, Linda Cochran of Mt. Ayr, Mary Denton of Des Moines and Kathy (Joe) Schuester of Adel. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Max Denton.
