TECUMSEH: Joyce Lucille Bater, age 92 of Tecumseh, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Hickman Hospital surrounded by her family. Joyce was born on December 21, 1929, in Britton to Charles and Wanda (Lembrick) McCarbery. On April 28, 1956, in Britton, Joyce married LeRoy “Bud” Bater, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 2015, after 59 years of marriage together. She attended Crossroads Community Church in Adrian and retired from the LISD where she was a school bus driver. She loved to decorate her home for every holiday. During the holidays, she would bake for hours making more than 150 dozen decorated cookies and homemade candy. She loved racing and doing crafts. Most of all, Joyce cherished the time she spent with her kids, grandkids and great grandkids.

Surviving Joyce are her four children, Cheryl Whipple of Tecumseh, Kevin Bater of Tecumseh, Debbie (Steve) Ahrens of Tecumseh, and Carolyn Bater of Tecumseh; eight grandchildren, Jason Whipple, Michael Whipple, Amy Ainsley, Tiffani Bater, Kodi Bater, Josh Ahrens, Niki Seeley, and Jake Ahrens; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters; and one brother.

Visitation for Joyce will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 3-8:00 p.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Anderson-Marry Funeral Home, Tecumseh Chapel with Pastor Scott Winstead officiating. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Ridgeway Cemetery.
