<p>Shirley Jean&nbsp;Robertson, 79,&nbsp;of&nbsp;South Bend,&nbsp;IN&nbsp;made her transition&nbsp;from this life to&nbsp;heaven on&nbsp;Sunday September 25, 2022 at&nbsp;her residence after&nbsp;a prolonged illness.&nbsp;Shirley was the daughter of&nbsp;the late&nbsp;Matthew and Essie White&nbsp;(Wheaton); born on June 22, 1943 in Hope Arkansas.&nbsp;On&nbsp;October 27, 1971 she married&nbsp;the&nbsp;love of her life&nbsp;the late&nbsp;Roy Robertson. </p><p>Shirley graduated from Washington&nbsp;High School.&nbsp;She later started working for&nbsp;St. Joseph&nbsp;Regional&nbsp;Medical&nbsp;Center in Environmental&nbsp;Services as well as South Bend Community&nbsp;School Corporation for many years in&nbsp;Childcare.&nbsp;She also&nbsp;was a Foster Parent. </p><p>&nbsp;Shirley&nbsp;was a former member of Mount&nbsp;Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir&nbsp;and&nbsp;also&nbsp;sang in the Local Quartet Union with&nbsp;the Voices of Faith.&nbsp;Shirley&nbsp;loved&nbsp;listening&nbsp;to gospel music,&nbsp;watching Lifetime&nbsp;TV,&nbsp;Westerns&nbsp;and&nbsp;Classic&nbsp;movies. She also loved&nbsp;Bingo and&nbsp;Facebook.&nbsp;Shirley favorite food was chicken and dressing.&nbsp;Most importantly,&nbsp;Shirley loved spending time with family&nbsp;and friends. </p><p>&nbsp;Shirley leaves to&nbsp;cherish&nbsp;her loving memories:&nbsp;Three daughters Tracey White&nbsp;and&nbsp;Shontae&nbsp;Campbell both of South Bend IN and Tiffany&nbsp;Jennings-Wilkins of Gary&nbsp;IN, two sons&nbsp;Barry&nbsp;White of&nbsp;South Bend IN&nbsp;and Judah Hurt of Wichita&nbsp;Kansas, 13 grandchildren&nbsp;and&nbsp;8&nbsp;great grandchildren, &nbsp;a godmother Rose Ivory&nbsp;of South Bend IN, &nbsp;a special cousin &nbsp;Fred Draper&nbsp;of Terre Haute IN, a special &nbsp;niece&nbsp;Annistatia&nbsp;Hill-White of Fort&nbsp;Wayne IN, a bonus daughter&nbsp;Trinette&nbsp;Fennessee&nbsp;of Chattanooga&nbsp;TN&nbsp;along&nbsp;with nieces, &nbsp;nephews,&nbsp;other relatives and many friends. </p><p>Proceeding&nbsp;Shirley in death&nbsp;are:&nbsp;Terry Hankerson&nbsp;(Son) Alvin White (Brother) and&nbsp;Monte James&nbsp;(Grandson)&nbsp;and&nbsp;Rev.&nbsp;Cleo Ivory&nbsp;(Godfather). </p><p>Services&nbsp;honoring the life, love, labor and legacy for Mother Robertson will be held on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 5 P.M in the Chapel of Alford’s Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Visitation will be held at 4 P.M also in the chapel. Pastor Canneth Lee will bring the word.&nbsp;Arrangements have been entrusted with&nbsp;Alford’s Mortuary Inc.&nbsp; </p>

Obituary

Shirley Jean Robertson, 79, of South Bend, IN made her transition from this life to heaven on Sunday September 25, 2022 at her residence after a prolonged illness. Shirley was the daughter of the late Matthew and Essie White (Wheaton); born on June 22, 1943 in Hope Arkansas. On October 27, 1971 she married the love of her life the late Roy Robertson.

Shirley graduated from Washington High School. She later started working for St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Environmental Services as well as South Bend Community School Corporation for many years in Childcare. She also was a Foster Parent.

 Shirley was a former member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and also sang in the Local Quartet Union with the Voices of Faith. Shirley loved listening to gospel music, watching Lifetime TV, Westerns and Classic movies. She also loved Bingo and Facebook. Shirley favorite food was chicken and dressing. Most importantly, Shirley loved spending time with family and friends.

 Shirley leaves to cherish her loving memories: Three daughters Tracey White and Shontae Campbell both of South Bend IN and Tiffany Jennings-Wilkins of Gary IN, two sons Barry White of South Bend IN and Judah Hurt of Wichita Kansas, 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren,  a godmother Rose Ivory of South Bend IN,  a special cousin  Fred Draper of Terre Haute IN, a special  niece Annistatia Hill-White of Fort Wayne IN, a bonus daughter Trinette Fennessee of Chattanooga TN along with nieces,  nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Proceeding Shirley in death are: Terry Hankerson (Son) Alvin White (Brother) and Monte James (Grandson) and Rev. Cleo Ivory (Godfather).

Services honoring the life, love, labor and legacy for Mother Robertson will be held on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 5 P.M in the Chapel of Alford’s Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Visitation will be held at 4 P.M also in the chapel. Pastor Canneth Lee will bring the word. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary Inc.
