Geri W. Langlois

<p>Geri Wayne Langlois passed away on September 18, 2022 after a heroic battle with myelodysplastic syndrome. Born on April 16, 1954 in Putnam, CT, he was the first child of Carol and Edrose Langlois. Growing up in Canterbury, Geri enjoyed raising sheep with his family and making cinnamon rolls with his mother. Geri was a graduate of Helen Baldwin School, Windham High School and studied at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He was a lifelong learner of many subjects; including studying computer technology at MIT, crafting custom handmade guitars, growing plants and vegetables in his hydroponic greenhouse, and countless hobbies and passion projects.</p><p><br></p><p>Geri was devoted to making a positive impact in his community and served in many roles. He started as an organizer for the Connecticut Citizen Action Group, continued as First Selectman of Thompson, and went on to be State Representative of the 51st District. He was Executive Director at the Northeast Economic Alliance and President of the Windham Mills Development Corporation. During his life, he served on countless other boards and committees. He was proud to serve alongside so many as they worked together to promote equity, opportunity, and progress.</p><p><br></p><p>Geri and his wife, Sherry, co-founded Rapid Frameworks; a business focused on website and business development. With the rise of computer technology, he served as his own teacher becoming an expert and mentor in the field. His incredible mind stayed one step ahead of the fast-paced industry which led to his last position as a Senior Software Engineer at LectureLinx in Branford, CT.</p><p>Above all else, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Geri is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-seven years, Sherry D’Alessandro; a daughter, Chérie Langlois and her fiancé, Jacob Palmieri; two sons, Russell and Samuel D’Alessandro; two grandsons, Russell, Jr. and Memphis D’Alessandro. He leaves behind two siblings, Michael Langlois and Steven Langlois. He is greatly missed by his best friend, Goldie, his golden doodle. His gentle smile, unconditional love and endless support will live in the hearts of many.</p><p><br></p><p>The family has chosen not to schedule a service at this time.
