<p>Edwin Adolphus “Brother” Ashby – Lawrence, MA </p><p>Edwin Adolphus “Brother” Ashby, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the age of 82 years at the Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, MA. He was born on June 4, 1940, son of the late Cuthbert Skeete and the late Irene Florence Ashby. He was born and raised in St. Michael, Barbados, and later emigrated to the New England area where he lived out the remainder of his life. Edwin was a jack of all trades and very skilled in the arts of carpentry, diesel engineering, mechanics, farming, cooking, and fishing. He was known for being a hard-working man with very strong work ethics. </p><p>Edwin loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and mind. He dedicated his entire life to the service of God. Like Enoch, Edwin walked with God. He studied His word diligently, always kept a song in his heart, and every conversation was about the gospel of Christ, His soon coming, and making sure to have a relationship with God. Edwin was an ordained Elder in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church and served as a deacon, neighborhood lay preacher, in community service, and was a tenor/bass in several church choirs and small groups. </p><p>Edwin was predeceased by his beloved and devoted wife Cecile “Sis” Ashby, and his siblings, Edward, Steve, Danville, Lawrence, and Gloria Ashby, including his twin sister Mary who was lost in childbirth. He leaves behind to mourn, his siblings Hutson, Ivan, and Evelyn Ashby; his six children; Samuel, Margaret, Lemuel, and Anthony Ashby, Suzan Allen, and Marion Ashby Karanja; his daughters and sons-in-law; Victoria, Karson, and Romea Ashby, James Allen, and Maina Karanja; his grandchildren; Charla Ashby, Talitha Ashby Jackson, Tamika McKissick, Leigh Ashby, Jamal Allen, Zeth Ashby, Michael, Rehema, and Kiama Karanja, Nia Ashby, Amber Allen, Nathaniel Ashby, and Elyssia Ashby; his great-grandchildren; Kamiya, Katelyn, Jameson, and Eliana, and a host of extended family members and friends. </p><p>Calling hours are Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 10 AM – 11:30 AM&nbsp;at the Cambridge Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 43 Norwood Street, Everett, MA 02149.&nbsp; A service will follow the calling hours at the church at 11:30 AM.&nbsp;Burial will follow the service in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Methuen, MA. </p><p>Services are under the direction of Goundrey &amp; Dewhirst Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Salem, NH 03079.&nbsp; Please visit www.goundreydewhirstfuneral.com to sign the online guest book. </p>

Edwin Adolphus “Brother” Ashby – Lawrence, MA

Edwin Adolphus “Brother” Ashby, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the age of 82 years at the Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, MA. He was born on June 4, 1940, son of the late Cuthbert Skeete and the late Irene Florence Ashby. Calling hours are Wednesday, September 21, 2022 from 10 AM – 11:30 AM at the Cambridge Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 43 Norwood Street, Everett, MA 02149.  A service will follow the calling hours at the church at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow the service in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Methuen, MA.
