Orvil Mything

<p>Orvil Edsel Mything passed away peacefully in his sleep at Eastend Wolf Willow Health Centre in Eastend, Saskatchewan, at the age of 97 years on Thursday, September 14, 2022. His joy for life and lively sense of humour were with him to the end.</p><p><br></p><p>On August 23, 1925, Orvil was born on the family homestead near Climax, Saskatchewan. He went to school at Plateau School and in Climax. After high school he joined the army, serving in an anti-aircraft artillery unit and as military police. When his service ended, he returned home and began farming. He married Irene Maycock on July 20, 1954. He was very involved in his community, volunteering for many projects and serving as Justice of the Peace for over 30 years and Coroner for over 20 years. Orvil was also a long-standing Mason, once serving as Grand Master for Saskatchewan. He had a passion for hockey, refereeing for many years, and baseball, which he and his brothers played competitively. However, Orvil’s favourite hobby was photography. He spent most of his life taking photos of local scenery and his family, creating many books as wonderful mementos for friends and family.</p><p><br></p><p>Orvil was predeceased by his son Lennard Orvil (1956), his father Ole (1976), his mother Olive (1980), his daughter Lori Jane (2005), and his brother Kenneth (2010).</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife Irene and their family: son Leslie (Debbie), granddaughter Amber (Howard) and great-grandchildren R.J., Colby, and Veronica; grandson Ryan (Carmen) and great-grandchildren Braxton, Naveen, Maren, and Arwyn; grandson Aryn (Sheri) and great-grandson Aidan; grandson Erik (Jennifer) and great-grandchildren Kristian, Ashlyn, Ethan, Mason, and Raelyn; daughter Jamie, granddaughter Tania (Jason) and great-grandchildren Matea, Ashton, and Bodyne; grandson Ky (Nadine); granddaughter Jodie; and grandson Dakota. He is also survived by his sister Myrtle and his brother Allan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Climax United Church in Climax, Saskatchewan with United Church Minister Connie Sykes officiating. The eulogy will be presented by Aryn Mything and a poem will be read by Tania Breen. Special Music will be performed by Erik Mything and a video tribute will be by Amber Nason. Michael Day will be the Urn Bearer. Members of the Swift Current Masonic Lodge No. 26 will form a Guard of Honor and present the Masonic Rite. Interment will take place at the Climax Cemetery in Climax. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) is in charge of the arrangements.
