Mr. James Luckins DeBord, age 86, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday morning, September 21, 2015, at his residence. He was born April 21, 1929, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Sarah Mauk DeBord. James proudly served his country in the United States Army for over 20 years and was a concrete finisher. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, working, watching birds, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard 'Buzzy' DeBord and Grover C. 'Bucky' DeBord Jr., and two sisters, Wilma Gibson and Vaughn Gearhart. James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jolene Flannery DeBord; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ernie and Teresa DeBord of Olive Hill, Kentucky, David and Donna DeBord of Morehead, Kentucky, Timothy and Cindy DeBord of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Eric and Tina DeBord of Olive Hill, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Stacey (Adam) Buckler, Wendy (Eric) Kilgore, Kristin (Jarrod) James, Amber Skie DeBord, Niki Adams, and Olivia Grayce DeBord; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Talmadge Debord of Grayson, Kentucky; and three sisters, Kathleen Russell of Grayson, Kentucky, Lois Delaney of Augusta, Georgia, and Phyllis Osborne of Anderson, Indiana. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at Tick Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Adam Buckler speaking. Full military honors will be presented by the Olive Hill American Legion Post No. 138. Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015, and until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164. Ernie DeBord, David DeBord, Timothy DeBord, Eric DeBord, Wayne DeBord, Shelby Nichols, Jacob Buckler, and Andrew Buckler will serve as pallbearers.
