Dr. Marian Wahba Ghraib Obituary

Rocky Mount, N.C. – Dr. Marian Wahba Ghraib departed unexpectedly in a car accident on September 7, 2022, in Nash County, North Carolina. The family is both devastated and shocked by her sudden departure. She was born in Simi Valley, California, on December 11, 1986, the daughter of Magda and Wahba Wahba. She is survived by her loving husband, Fadie Ghraib. She is also survived by her parents; her two sisters, Jean (Joe) Zaky of Porter Ranch, California, and Sandra (Mark) Mattar of Washington, D.C.; her father-in-law Buolus Ghraib, mother-in-law, Jezail Ghraib, sister-in-law Lillian (Ted) Metry, and brother-in-law Nidhal Ghraib of Northville, MI; her nieces Sophia Zaky, Anna Zaky, Alexandria Metry and Gabriella Metry; and her nephews Christopher Mattar and Jonah Zaky.

From a very young age, Marian used her creativity, brilliance, and love to bring joy to everyone around her. She had a beautiful gift of using her hands to make delicate and touching artistic masterpieces that are treasured by her family. Her honesty was refreshing and welcomed by those who love her. She always was ambitious and determined to achieve what she set her mind to, even as a child. This served her well throughout her precious life.

After graduating from Faith Baptist High School in 2005, Marian attended and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2009 with a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. She was a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health from 2009 to 2011. She then attained her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, in 2015. It was during her time in medical school that she met the love of her life, Fadie Ghraib. They were married on September 3, 2016, and with Fadie’s love and patience supporting her, Marian completed her residency in otolaryngology at Temple University.

Marian then moved with her husband to Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where she joined UNC Medical Center and faithfully served others, bringing hope and healing into their lives. Her hard work and dedication culminated when she passed her ENT Board exam early this year. Marian was passionate about her work and very dedicated to her patients. She was described by her patients as understanding, compassionate, and always willing to help.

Marian is dearly loved, cherished, and treasured by so many. Her positive outlook, kind heart, calm demeanor, and thoughtfulness became her legacy, her love for family and friends her guiding light.

We will miss her dearly but know that she is resting in Christ’s arms and praying for all of us.

"Marian, it was an honor and privilege to share my life with yours over the past seven years. You were the best partner and friend a person could ask for. As my wife, you nurtured me to be my true self and guided me on a never-ending path of self-improvement. I will continue this path to honor on what we started and will always love you sweety." -Fadie Ghraib
