Robert Corbett Obituary

Passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his loving family on September 3, 2022, Robert John Corbett. Beloved husband, father and grandfather. For the past 75 years dad lived his life doing what he loved. At 21 he married the love of his life and just celebrated over 53 years happily married.

Dad worked 33 years with The St. John’s Regional Fire Department and retired Deputy Chief/Acting Chief. Dad was also a member of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and served faithfully until he retired from the band after 40 years of service. He recently spent the last 10 years as a dialysis patient who kept his angels in sneakers, as he lovingly called them, on their toes but respected each and every one for the constant care provided to him. He was also a bilateral amputee and was an inspiration to others who faced the same challenges.

Robert leaves behind his loving wife Mary (English) Corbett, daughters Colleen Awalt (Harry), Nicole Parsons (Gary) as well as his pride and joy, his grandchildren, Rebecca & Aaron Parsons and Paul Awalt. He also leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Catherine Stanley (Wince, deceased) Patrick Corbett (Ruth), Bernice Duff (Brian), Gerry Corbett (Patricia), Sheila Crocker (Wince), Kevin Corbett (Daphne), Janet Bursey and Paul Corbett (Marie). Robert also leaves to mourn his in laws Geraldine Trainer (George), Patricia Burton (Martin), Sheila Coleman (John), Tom English (Carmelita), and Kevin English (Louise) as well as a large circle of family and friends. Robert was pre-deceased by his father Patrick Corbett and mother Margaret Corbett (nee Madden), brother Brian Corbett and wife Davidlynn, his mother-in-law Freda English and father-in-law Leo English.

We would like to extend a thank you the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Mount Pearl Square dialysis unit for their constant care over the past 10 years.
