1953-2012

Mike was an exceptionally kind-hearted and considerate soul who passed with much courage and grace at The Hospice of Windsor, on April 18, 2012. Mike was blessed to have shared more than 36 wonderful years with his beloved soul-mate and wife Ella (nee Olszewski) who was by his side until the end and will always miss him terribly. Mike and Ella began their lives in Hamilton, ON and traveled extensively, living in many different parts of North America enjoying the solitude and beauty of nature. He was a self-taught musician who loved to play guitar and keyboard, and jam with his many friends and fellow travelers. Mike is predeceased by his father Harry and is survived by his mother Vera, sister Joanne (John Dempsey), and brother Drew (Barbara Smith). He also leaves his mother-in-law Mary Olszewski, sisters-in-law Donna and Jane (Steve Sianchuk), nephews Jake and Luke as well as Mariola Olszewska, who was like a sister to Ella and Mike. A special thank you to all the wonderful people who helped to care for Mike, particularly Vickie Allison and all the other dedicated VON nurses. We gratefully acknowledge the kind and compassionate Doctors, staff and volunteers of The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County. A private cremation and celebration of Mike’s life will be held. To everyone who offered their gifts of prayer and good will, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
