Mr. Henry Christzman Mort, 81, of Waynesboro, PA passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born November 23, 1940 in Greencastle, PA, the son of the late Allen C. and Buelah M. (Coldsmith) Mort. Mr. Mort served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1960. After his honorable discharge from the military, he made his living as a truck driver for the next eight years before going to work as a machinist for Landis Machine Co., Waynesboro. He retired in 2004 after 38 years of service. He also served as a firefighter for Waynesboro Fire Department for over 50 years. In his free time, Henry enjoyed hunting, taking rides on his motorcycle, often with his wife as passenger, enjoying each other’s company and the scenery. For a while they were members of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. He was also a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post #695 and Waynesboro Fire Department. A devoted husband, he also enjoyed helping his wife around the home in any way he could. Mr. Mort is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Emily Mae (Souders) Mort who he married May 25, 1958; three daughters, Dianne Rhorer of Fayetteville, PA, Christina Mort of Waynesboro and Tonyia Whorton and her husband, Jim of Clear Spring, MD; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank D. Mort of Scottsdale, AZ; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
