Ulyless Wayne Wright, Sr.

Ulyless Wayne Wright, Sr. was born, January 19, 1926, in Newtonia, MO the oldest son of Elzie Jefferson Wright and Alberta Ruth Barker-Wright. He attended Lincoln High School in Joplin, MO., and KBSV Technical School in Topeka, KS.<br><br> Ulyless Wayne served in the United States Navy for two years with an honorary discharge. In his school-age years, he was an awesome baseball player and an outstanding basketball player. Later in life, he was an avid bowler in the Ebonite League of Topeka, KS, and won several bowling championships.<br><br>Wayne worked at Topeka Veteran Hospital and State Hospital for many years as a Nursing Assistant. After retirement, he worked part-time for Bowser Johnson Funeral Chapel. He loved to fish and hunt.<br><br> He was a member of Asbury Mount Olive United Methodist Church.<br><br>Ulyless Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Mae Lee Gilmore Wright; sisters: Ruth Agnes Wright-Woolridge, and Emma Lee Wright; and brother, James Clifton Wright.<br><br>He is survived by his present wife, Anna Mae Spann Wright, two sons from his first wife, Ulyless Wayne Wright, Jr. (Patricia) of Topeka, KS, and Anthony Greg Wright of Kansas City, MO; one granddaughter, Audrey Schuler (Richard), and two great-granddaughters, his brother Donald Harold Wright(Audrey), sister -in-law Mary Jane Martin(Sonny) both of Topeka Ks and sister-in-law Sharon Wright. Other survivors are three Stepsons: Anthony Ellis (Emelita), David P. Spann, and Harrison B. Mitchell Jr all of Topeka, KS.<br><br>His favorite sayings – “Jesus is on the mainline” and “It's just a matter of time.”<br><br>At the family's request, the funeral service will be a private event. Thank you.
