Christine Raichel Stanley, 81, a lifelong resident of Austin, IN, passed away at her home with her family by her side on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, after battling cancer for numerous years. Christine was born on Saturday, July 5, 1941, in Bluebird Holler, Knott County, KY to Edward “Eddie” and Laura (White) Raichel. Christine attended Austin High School and later received her GED. She was hired at Morgan Foods on August 7, 1972, where she worked as a receiving clerk and finally retired after 33 years of dedicated service on June 1, 2005. She was also a caregiver for George Spriggs for 30 years who became part of her family. Christine was known to all as a very sophisticated and classy lady. She enjoyed worshipping at Grace Covenant Church of God in Austin, IN, keeping a beautiful and well-decorated home, buying clothes, cooking, feeding everyone, and trying new recipes, and different foods. She loved working in her flowers, Hosta Garden, and watching all of her hummingbirds. While relaxing, she liked to watch The Price is Right, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Jeopardy. Her family was her #1 priority. Christine is survived by her 3 children, Sheila (Todd) Walton of Rising Sun, IN, Phillip Stanley of Blocher, IN, and Joey (Yenney) Stanley of Floyds Knobs, IN, brother, James Raichel of Austin, IN, sister, Joan (Peggy Tanner) Raichel of Austin, IN, grandchildren, Scott (Kayla) Kilburn of Sellersburg, IN, Stephanie (Mike) Gricius of Scottsburg, IN, LeeAnn (Brandon Howe) Boyd of New Albany, IN, Kaleshia Marie (Austin Hicks) Riddell of Martinsville, IN, Morgan Stanley of Washington, D.C., Brenda (Clay) Conway of Floyds Knobs, IN, Sammie Jo (Stacey) Lange of Rising Sun, IN, Shannon (A.J.) Hastings of Lawrenceburg, IN, great-grandchildren, Sophie & Ian Gricius, Macie & Aiden Kilburn, Aven Hicks, Leo Boyd, and Addie Conway, Cameron &Nataleigh Garland, Charlotte Hastings, Aulden & Nolan Lange, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward “Eddie” and Laura (White) Raichel, 2 brothers, Larry Raichel and Dorse Raichel, one sister, Patricia “Pat” Raichel-Bostic, and the father of her children, Bud Stanley. Pastor Steve Gwaltney will conduct funeral services at Grace Covenant Church of God, 75 W. Main Street, Austin, IN on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Scottsburg, IN on Friday, August 5, 2022. Christine will be entombed at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, IN immediately following the funeral service. Memorial donations in honor of Christine may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Susan G.
