Obituary
Andrews: Linda Faye Owens Ray, 76, wife of David L. Ray joined her heavenly Father Sunday evening August 14, 2022, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Ray was born in Hemingway on December 20, 1945, a daughter of the late Wilbur Broadus Owens and Mary Katrina Miles Owens. After a long and courageous journey battling Parkinson’s Disease, Linda lost her mobility, but continued to smile and hold her husband of sixty years, her children, grandchildren, and great grands close at heart. Her love for family was evident in her life, as she dedicated it to the care and nurture of her children. In her younger years, she could often be found laughing, playing, and dancing with her children while her husband was away at work. Even in her older years, she maintained her youthful spirit. As a young girl, she grew up in church singing in the choir, and carried her love for music and God throughout her life. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Her greatest pleasures were each addition to her ever-growing family, whether that be by marriage or by birth. Her love had no limits. All were loved and treasured as if they were her own. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ray was predeceased by a brother, Wendel Owens. Surviving are: her husband of Andrews; four daughters, Lenora R. Sullivan (Danny deceased), Deborah R. Cremer (George), Jennifer R. Newton (Matt), and Denise Ray (friend of the family Samuel Blakely) a son, David Ray, II (Sabrina); eight grandchildren, Danielle Sullivan, Lee Cremer, Tyler Newton, Savannah Newton, Addison Newton, Brittany Ray Morris (Tyler), Brandon Ray and Kayla Avant; five great-grandchildren, Connor Collins, Benji Sullivan, Haven Best, Ava Morris, and James Morris. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to SC House Calls, Agape Hospice and the Parkinson’s Foundation. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral home from six until eight o’clock. Funeral Services will be two o’clock Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Andrews Church of God. Officiating will be the Rev. Joe Lambert, Rev. Ronnie Newton, and the Rev. Randy Gamble. Burial will follow in the Garden of Devotion, Johnsonville, SC. Please sign a guestbook at: www.mayerfuneralhome.com.
