Ellis Lockwood Thayer, Jr.

<p>Ellis Lockwood Thayer, Jr., age 77, passed away August 13, 2022, at Grand Strand Medical Center.</p> <p>Ellis was born December 26, 1944, in Syracuse, NY., a son of the late Ellis Lockwood Thayer, Sr., and Hazel Emma Douglas Thayer.&nbsp; Ellis was a graduate of Altmar Parrish High School and served in in the United States Air-Force from 1964 to 1968 as a Sergeant.&nbsp; He was an active member and Pastoral Leader at Palmetto Pointe Church of God.&nbsp; He served at one point as Pastor of Wamego Church of God in Wamego, KS.&nbsp; Ellis retired from AT&amp;T after 34 and half years of service.&nbsp; Ellis will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.</p> <p>Surviving is his wife; Sallie Mae Gilleland Thayer; children: Ellis Lockwood Thayer, III (Woody) and wife, Debbie; Joshua Lee Thayer and wife, Carrie, Annjanette Lorraine Sizemore (THE FAVORITE) and husband, Tim; honorary son; Joseph Olin Strickland, III; grandchildren: Jamie Williams, Adrian Sanvidge, Jessica Davis, Keith Sanvidge, Sam Danehower, Damon Baker, Jacob Thayer, Madison Sizemore, and Logann Sizemore; 7 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Siblings: James Robert Thayer and partner, Rick, Dianna Paulette Lewis, Katherine Louise Halbert and husband, Skip, Judith Ann Rice and husband, Eddie, Richard Henry Thayer and wife, Jan, Gerald Lee Thayer, and wife, LouAnn, Linda Murray, Mamie Irene Foster, and Elizabeth Jean Carbaugh and husband, Dave.</p> <p>A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Palmetto Pointe Church of God, 2901 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach SC. 29579.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Palmetto Pointe Church of God, 2901 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, SC. 29579</p>

Ellis will be with me always. He was a true man of God, an awesome friend, funny, and would give anybody the shirt off his back. I know he's rejoicing with Jesus, but we sure do miss him here. Love always to his family and wonderful wife, Mae.
