Mary Alice Rogers Thurman

Mary Alice Rogers Thurman, age 58 of Kodak, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church and a former cafeteria manager at Catlettsburg Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her mother, Josia Dean Rogers and husband, Jimmy "Babe" Thurman. She is survived by her son, Jackson Hurst and wife Kimberly; grandson, Zachary Hurst; step-son, Aaron Thurman and wife Melissa; father, Jack Rogers and wife Annice; brother, Mike Rogers and wife Kim; niece, Dana Rogers Pickens. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to her special friends, Adis and Jerry Huskey, her Catlettsburg Elementary family and her Beech Springs Baptist Church family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 871 N. Weisgarber Rd., Knxoville, TN 37909. The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Sunday with funeral service to follow at 4 PM at Beech Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Richard Compton, Rev. Brandon Cate and Rev. Jack Hitch will officiate. Family and friends will meet 10 AM Monday for entombment in the mausoleum of Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
