Gunadi “George” Sutandar, age 90 of Marion and formerly of Medina, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2022.

George was born February 4, 1932 in Indonesia, the son of Tan Tiang and Lie Lian (Nio) Lok. George was educated in Indonesia receiving his doctorate in medicine. He was united in marriage to Leny Samalo on March 9, 1963. The family immigrated to the United States in 1971 where George served his residency at Charity Hospital in Cleveland.

George faithfully served the community of Medina, where he was well respected and loved, as a general practitioner in private practice. He was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to classical music and had a fondness for cars. He especially enjoyed his dogs and above all adored his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Leny Sutandar; children: Daniel (Leslie) Sutandar, Benjamin (Laurie) Sutandar, Rena (the late Khang) Thai, and Andrew (Megan) Sutandar; grandchildren: Kalen, Mason, Joey, Ethan, Cameron, Gabrielle, Raquel, Alex and Sydnee; also surviving is his sister, Julia Sutandar.

George is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, 360 East Center St., Marion from 6PM to 7PM; funeral service will follow at 7PM; you are welcome to watch the livestream of George’s services via Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/DenzerChapelSFH/), which will start approximately 5 minutes before the funeral.
