Kyriakos Perentessis Obituary

PERENTESIS, Kyriakos

Kyriakos Perentesis passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at Hospice Peterborough at the age of 89 after a courageous battle with cancer in true Spartan nature.

Husband to the late Soula (2007). Beloved father to Kiki (Michalis), Nik (Angie) and Steve (Cherry). Cherished Pappou to Constantinos, Anastasia, Jennifer, Christopher, Rosa and Kyri.

He was born in Palaiopanagia, Sparta, Greece on July 1, 1933. He immigrated to Toronto in 1964. Kyriakos owned International Drapery on Danforth Ave., Toronto for over 30 years until his retirement with his loving wife (Soula). He will forever be loved and admired by the community.

Kyriakos enjoyed traveling to Greece to preserve his family home in Sparta. He will be remembered as a wealth of philosophical wisdom in history and Hellenistic culture and democracy, a masterful story-teller with tremendous sense of honesty and humour in his own way. Heaven will be so much richer with his compassion and true intellect.

As per his wishes, no service will be held at this time. If so desired, donations in Kyriakos’ memory can be made to Hospice Peterborough where he spent his last weeks as he received exceptional assistance from his doctor, nurses and volunteers.

“Be strong, saith my heart; I am a soldier; I have seen worse sights than this. Let me not then die ingloriously and without a struggle, but let me first do some great thing that shall be told among men hereafter.” - Homer
