Gayla Kathryn Blua Obituary

On August 4, the world lost, and Heaven gained, the beautiful, witty, hysterical and ever-giving Gayla Blua.

Gayla was born on Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas to her parents Billie and Charles Guest and was a big sister to three brothers, Mitch, Derek and Michael. Together, they grew up in Pearblossom, California.

In her teenage years she enjoyed riding her horse, Gypsy, hula dancing and working at the Farmer’s Mart as the “juice girl” where she first met the love of her life, Frank. They married on July 9, 1981, in Lancaster, California. Six years later, she gave birth to the other love of her life, her daughter Ashley.

Among her many qualities, Gayla was often the funniest person in the room, and to know her was to love her (and laugh with her). She was an affable friend and had the incredible ability to connect with people, which made her the perfect Human Resources professional. She worked for many decades all across the Valley, including Boeing, AV Hospital, Northern Inyo Hospital and California City Correctional Facility.

Gayla was an incredibly devoted mother and wife and spent countless Saturday nights in the stands at Antelope Valley College cheering on the Marauders football team where her husband Frank coached. All throughout her adult life she enjoyed camping at Carpinteria State Beach, gardening, walking her dog “Bo” and entertaining at their second home in Bishop.

Gayla was a selfless mother and friend and could be counted on to deliver a meal or a smile whenever someone needed it. If you were ever a lucky recipient of her kindness, you’ll likely never forget the way she made you feel.
Gayla left us too soon, joining her beloved husband, Frank and many family and friends in Heaven. She leaves behind those who cherished her, including her daughter Ashley and countless adoring friends, nieces, nephews, brothers and in-laws.

Family and friends are encouraged to celebrate her beautiful life on Thursday, August 11 at 10 a.m. at Halley Olsen Murphy; 44831 Cedar Ave, Lancaster, CA 93536.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your favorite charity.
