<p>Ellen Hartzell Burgstahler, age 99, passed to her eternal heavenly home on August 9, 2022. She was born August 31, 1922 in Treaty, IN to the late Lewis and Pearl Knee. During her career she did bookkeeping and tax preparation for approximately one hundred clients annually. Along with several other women, she helped break the glass ceiling for woman in the Fort Wayne area to sell real estate in which she was very successful with DAB Reality, Seculoff Reality, and Charleston Brothers Reality. Ellen enjoyed gardening, archery, fishing, basket weaving, and oil painting. She is survived by her son, Robin (Holly) Hartzell; grandchildren, Stephanny (Adam) Smith, Aaron (Janai) Hartzell, Sean (Stephani) Hartzell; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Knee of Evansville, IN; step-daughters, Lynn Raddatz, Diane (David) Olson, and Beverly (Jack) Wold; step-grandchildren, Thomas Dailey and Derek Dailey. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Hartzell; second husband, James Burgstahler; daughter, Jacqueline Wallace; and siblings, Betty Lou Smith, Max Knee, and Dean Wolfal. Service is 11:00 am, Friday, August 12, 2022 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. with calling two hours prior beginning at 9:00 am.
